Indian River County received a $144,825 grant for beach cleanup activities from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The cleanup resumes today and will continue through Saturday as long as necessary. Cleanup is actually expected to finish Thursday or Friday. Still, if needed, cleanup will continue until it’s done. So, we will be getting our beaches back before long!
Indian River County is working with two local towns and the City of Vero Beach and hired Ceres Environmental. The company is based in Sarasota and are experts at coastline cleanup. Ceres is using bulldozers for mechanical cleanup which involves 17.5 miles of coastline.
