Sometimes, we see a perfectly organized outdoor shed. This actually does impress homebuyers. If a shed is organized by a homeowner, it would seem that all areas of the home are likely just as well-maintained. If you wish to tackle the job of organizing your outdoor shed before your house is shown to homebuyers, we support you! It usually costs little more than time. Plus, you probably will have to be willing to let go of items that are of no use to you anymore. This extra effort won’t be in vain though, think of all of the things you won’t have to get into a moving truck after you close on the sale of your home. Right?
In your shed, try to limit it to home improvement tools, landscaping tools, gardening tools, and little more. Very inexpensive tool hangers can organize this equipment easily. Be sure to make use of vertical space too. Remember, the more you remove from the shed, the bigger it will look. Sometimes it’s helpful to pull everything out of the shed and only put the items you will need for your next home adventure back inside. Donating the rest of the property in the shed can sometimes afford you tax benefits, but it will absolutely afford you space benefits on the moving truck!
Once everything is out of the shed, look around inside to check for pests or critters. Look for mouse nests, spiders and snakes. Check for hornet nests too. It’s a good idea to also look for signs of damage from wood-boring insects too. Be sure to address any problems you find before you show the home, just in case the home buyers want to look around. While a shed might not seem like much of an asset, first-time homebuyers coming from apartments are often excited to have access to an outdoor shed.
